Jayne-Maree SedgmanJayne-Maree Sedgman worked as a radio and television journalist for 16 years before starting Media Savvy.

Her career took her from Geraldton to Perth to Brisbane where she began what was to be a long association with the ABC.

Jayne-Maree then moved to London where she spent four years freelancing for, among others, the BBC and Reuters as a reporter, producer, sub-editor and newsreader.

Returning to Australia, Jayne-Maree rejoined the ABC, this time in the Sydney newsroom. Over the next nine years she worked for both Radio and Television News, and Radio Current Affairs (AM, PM and The World Today).

As the ABC's court reporter, she covered many major stories including the HIH Royal Commission, the Police Integrity Commission’s corruption hearings and Rene Rivkin's insider trading trial.

Jayne-Maree also experienced life “on the other side of the fence” with a stint in media relations with a large corporate in 2003. That experience means she can help clients balance the media’s needs with their organisation’s best interests.

As Principal of Media Savvy, Jayne-Maree uses her knowledge to help a range of corporate, government and not-for-profit clients prepare for media interviews.

While based in Sydney, she conducts training across NSW, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

Jayne-Maree has a BA (Journalism) and a Certificate IV Train the Trainer. She is a Member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia - www.pria.com.au and regularly conducts professional development workshops for its NSW branch.

Jayne-Maree is the dedicated media trainer for the national news agency AAP Medianet - http://www.medianet.com.au and also conducts professional development workshops for both their Sydney and Melbourne bureaux.
